The Jigawa State Police Command has paid N25.96 million in insurance benefits to 25 families and next of kin of police officers who died in active service.
The cheques were presented by the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, at the command headquarters in Dutse under the Nigeria Police Force’s Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Scheme.
Murtala said the payment was intended to provide financial support to the families of the deceased officers, acknowledging that no amount of money could replace their loved ones or erase the pain of their loss.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously, particularly for the welfare and education of children and other dependants left behind by the officers.

The commissioner thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, for the initiative, saying it demonstrated the police force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Yusuf Muhd Tsoho thanked the IGP and the Jigawa commissioner for the support.
Tsoho described the payment as a demonstration of concern for families of officers who lost their lives while serving the country.
The Jigawa Police Command said it would continue to prioritise the welfare of its personnel while maintaining professionalism and dedication to protecting lives and property.
