Actor and skit maker Akinyoola Ayoola, popularly known as Kamo State, has dismissed rumours of a strained relationship between him and box office queen, Funke Akindele, describing the speculation as unfounded.
Ayoola, in an interview with BBC Yoruba, said assumptions about a fallout between them were triggered by their reduced public appearances together, which he attributed to their busy work schedules.
The actor explained that Akindele is currently occupied with her December project, while he has also become more engaged with other professional commitments.
“We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn’t give her a chance. I am also not the same as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also always be called to work on projects,” Ayoola said.

Reacting to reports suggesting there was tension between them, the actor urged the public to ignore what he described as false narratives.
“There is no fight; don’t let people paint what doesn’t exist,” he added.
Ayoola also spoke about his first encounter with Akindele on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa, describing her as a mentor whose support played a significant role in his career growth.
“Before I met her, she had been like a role model to me; I love her very much… Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy,” he said.
He recalled an incident during filming where he lost the key to a handcuff used on set, noting that Akindele showed concern and further strengthened the bond between them.
“I lost the key to the handcuff we used on set, so she showed concern about the incident. Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy,” he added.
According to the actor, Akindele’s encouragement and support later led to his involvement in some of her productions, including Aiyetoro and Behind the Scene.
The clarification comes amid recent social media speculation following fewer joint appearances by the pair at movie locations and public events.
Ayoola, however, maintained that their relationship remains strong, both professionally and personally.
