Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has urged citizens and other Nigerians living in the United Kingdom to support President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, promote a positive image of Nigeria and channel their investments, expertise and global networks towards the development of Kogi State.
Speaking at a Town Hall Meeting with Kogites and Nigerians in London, the Governor said the Nigerian diaspora has a critical role to play in nation-building by supporting ongoing reforms and taking advantage of emerging investment opportunities in the state.
Governor Ododo said Kogi’s progress over the last decade has been driven by unity across ethnic and religious lines, stressing that peace and security have created an enabling environment for investment, agriculture and economic growth.
He commended President Tinubu for implementing what he described as bold but necessary reforms, including fuel subsidy removal, foreign exchange unification and fiscal restructuring, saying the policies have strengthened the financial capacity of states to invest in infrastructure, education, healthcare and agriculture.

The Governor also highlighted key Federal Government-backed projects in Kogi, including the proposed International Airport, Free Trade Zone, Special Agro-Processing Zone, efforts to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company and ongoing reconstruction of major federal roads.
He called on Kogites abroad to become ambassadors of the state’s rebranding initiative by promoting its investment potential while bringing home innovative ideas, technical expertise and international partnerships.
Member representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Salman Idris, said the Governor’s collaboration with the Federal Government, particularly on the revival of Ajaokuta Steel, would redefine Kogi’s economic future. He urged the diaspora to support the administration through investments and professional expertise.
Participants at the meeting commended Governor Ododo’s achievements in infrastructure, security, education and healthcare, describing the engagement as a rare opportunity for direct interaction with the diaspora.
They pledged to mobilise investments and contribute their knowledge and experience towards the continued development of Kogi State while expressing support for President Tinubu’s reform agenda.
