The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has sealed two warehouses at Ijesha Bus Stop over alleged persistent indiscriminate dumping of waste on the road median.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, disclosed this in a statement via his X handle on Thursday, July 30.
Gbadegesin said the authority’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team carried out the enforcement exercise in collaboration with the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Nigeria Police.
According to him, the sealed facilities include the Oluremi Tinubu and Anambra warehouses, which were shut over repeated violations of environmental sanitation regulations.

“This morning, @Lawma_gov Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement (WISE) team, working alongside @LAGESCOfficial and the Nigeria Police, sealed the Oluremi Tinubu and Anambra warehouses at Ijesha Bus Stop for persistent indiscriminate dumping of waste on the road median,” Gbadegesin stated.
The LAWMA boss said the action was part of efforts to safeguard public infrastructure, restore environmental order and ensure compliance with Lagos State environmental laws.
“This action follows repeated environmental sanitation violations and reflects our commitment to protecting public infrastructure, restoring environmental order, and enforcing Lagos State environmental laws,” he added.
Gbadegesin noted that the affected premises would remain closed until they satisfy all compliance requirements set by relevant authorities.
“The affected premises will remain sealed until all compliance requirements have been met to the satisfaction of the relevant authorities,” he said.
He reiterated that environmental regulations would continue to be enforced across the state, urging residents, businesses and institutions to embrace responsible waste management practices.
“A clean Lagos requires responsible waste management from every resident, business, and institution. Environmental laws will continue to be enforced without exception,” the LAWMA managing director stated.
