The Kogi State Police Command has clarified reports surrounding the rescue of NYSC corps members abducted along the Aloma–Egane Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area.

The command said 10 of the 15 corps members abducted while travelling from Bayelsa to Abuja have been rescued, after joint security forces located them in Egume Forest on Monday.

The police added that 11 people were safely recovered during a separate tactical operation in the area, explaining that the development had led to conflicting reports over the actual number of corps members rescued.

Police Commissioner, Naziru Kankarofi, said security agencies were intensifying search-and-rescue operations to locate the remaining victims.

He urged residents to remain calm and assist security agencies by providing credible and actionable information.
