Lagos State University (LASU) has announced the commencement of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) 2026/2027 student loan application for eligible students of the institution.
The university made the announcement in a post on its official X account, urging interested students to take advantage of the Federal Government intervention and complete their applications before the December 31, 2026 deadline.
According to LASU, the NELFUND application portal opened on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and will remain accessible to eligible students until Thursday, December 31, 2026.
The university directed students to apply through the official NELFUND application portal and ensure that their records are accurate before submitting their applications.
LASU said applicants must be duly registered students of the university and possess valid JAMB Registration Number, National Identification Number (NIN) and Bank Verification Number (BVN).
Students are also required to ensure that their Matriculation Number, Department and other institutional records are correctly uploaded and updated on the university portal.
The university further stressed the need for applicants to ensure that their JAMB details are correctly verified before proceeding with the loan application.
In its notice, LASU said, “Students are strongly advised to verify and update their institutional and JAMB records before proceeding with their applications on the NELFund portal.”

The university explained that the verification was necessary “to prevent disqualification or delays arising from discrepancies or data mismatches.”
Students experiencing difficulties with the verification or updating of their records were advised to seek assistance from the Directorate of ICT or Special Interventions.
LASU urged all eligible students to complete their applications within the stipulated period.
“All eligible students are encouraged to apply within the stipulated deadline,” the university said.
