Factional Labour Party National Chairman, Julius Abure, has accused the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Abia State Governor Alex Otti of worsening the party’s leadership crisis by constituting what he described as an unauthorized caretaker committee.
Abure made the allegation during an interview on TVC News on Friday, July 3, 2026, where he discussed the prolonged leadership dispute within the party. According to him, the crisis reached its peak when Obi and Otti met in Umuahia and selected individuals to oversee the party’s affairs outside its established leadership structure.
