The family of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has debunked reports claiming that the 66-year-old actor has died.
The clarification came after a viral Facebook post alleged that Ogogo’s daughter, Haleemah Taiwo, had announced his death following claims that several hospitals had rejected him.
Ogogo’s daughter, Lima Taiwo, dismissed the report in an Instagram post, describing it as fake and urging the public to disregard the claim.
The denial came barely a day after Lima and her sister, Kira Taiwo, publicly appealed for medical assistance for their father, who is battling stage four cancer.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram, Lima said the family only became aware of the severity of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago.
She explained that the actor’s physical appearance had initially made it difficult for the family to appreciate how serious his condition was.
Lima stressed that the family was not asking for financial donations but needed urgent access to hospitals and medical specialists capable of managing his condition.
“We are not asking for money. We need help with hospitals and doctors who can treat him,” she said.
Kira, in a separate appeal, revealed that doctors had informed the family that the hospital currently treating Ogogo could no longer administer chemotherapy because of the advanced stage of his illness.
The sisters have therefore appealed to cancer specialists, hospitals and medical professionals to assist the family in securing appropriate treatment for the veteran actor.
They also urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified information about Ogogo’s health.
The family said its immediate priority remained securing the specialist medical care needed by the actor as he continues his battle with the disease.
