Victor Osimhen is expected to return to action for Galatasaray after the first international break of the 2026/27 season as he continues his recovery from a muscle injury, according to Turkish media reports.
The Nigeria international is reportedly on course to feature in Galatasaray’s Turkish Süper Lig clash against Kasımpaşa on October 9.
Osimhen suffered the injury during Galatasaray’s 4 September meeting with Başakşehir and has since missed matches against Sporting Lisbon, Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.
The former African Footballer of the Year was initially named in Nigeria’s squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau but subsequently withdrew after his recovery took longer than anticipated.
Super Eagles media officer Promise Efoghe said Osimhen’s recovery from the muscle strain had been slower than expected.

According to Efoghe, Osimhen was included in the squad because Galatasaray and the Super Eagles technical team initially believed he would recover in time for the Trabzonspor fixture and be fit for the international window.
The striker had made an impressive start to the new campaign before the injury, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his first four appearances for Galatasaray.
His withdrawal from the Super Eagles squad has paved the way for Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi to return to the team for the upcoming qualifiers.
Tolu Arokodare, Akor Adams and Rafiu Durosinmi are also available among Nigeria’s attacking options for the two matches.
