The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 28-year-old suspected drug dealer in the Apata area of Ibadan.
The suspect, identified as Rilwan was arrested on Friday, September 11, 2026, following credible intelligence received by the Command.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, surveillance operatives of the Iyaganku Area Command commenced targeted operations based on the intelligence, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
He said a quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and a white crystalline substance suspected to be methamphetamine, alongside other suspected dangerous drugs, were recovered from the suspect.

The Command said the suspect is currently in police custody and is cooperating with investigators as preliminary investigations continue to determine the source of the substances and the extent of his involvement in the illicit drug trade.
The investigation is also expected to identify other individuals who may be connected to the alleged activities.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Abimbola Olugbenga, reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led operations against drug trafficking and other forms of criminality across the state.
The Commissioner described illicit drugs as a significant catalyst for various forms of crime, assuring that the Command would continue to disrupt the supply chains of criminal elements, particularly illicit drugs, through intelligence-led policing and proactive operations.
The police said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
The Command also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and actionable information to the police to strengthen the fight against crime and criminality in Oyo State.
