Peter Obi Sends Important Message To Nwoye After Emerging As Senate Minority Whip

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has described the emergence of Senator Tony Nwoye as the Minority Whip of the Senate as an elevation for more service to humanity.

Obi made the submission in a statement on Thursday, where he called on Nwoye to use his new position to serve humanity, particularly the poor and suffering Nigerians.

The former Governor of Anambra State charged the new Senate Minority Whip to remain committed to the unity of Nigeria, the well-being of citizens and the progress of the nation.

“My dear younger brother, Distinguished Senator Tony Nwoye, congratulations on your emergence as the Senate Minority Whip. This elevation provides a greater platform for you to continue your service to humanity, particularly the poor and suffering Nigerians who look toward principled leadership for hope.

“Remain steadfast to the Unity of our dear country, the well-being of the people, and the progress of our nation towards a new Nigeria that is POssible,” Obi wrote in the statement released via his 𝕏 account.

Naijaonpoint recalls that the lawmaker representing Anambra North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Tony Nwoye, emerged as the new Minority Whip of the Senate during the plenary on Wednesday.

Nwoye was unanimously chosen by the Senate minority caucus to assume the position after his predecessor, Senator Osita Ngwu, defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC on Wednesday.

Senator Nwoye was elected into the Senate in 2023 on the platform of the Labour Party (LP) before defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in late 2025.
