Former Big Brother Naija housemate Phyna has backed fellow reality TV star Tochi’s advice to ex-housemates struggling financially after leaving the reality show.

Tochi had urged former BBNaija contestants facing difficult times to put aside the celebrity status associated with the show and focus on making a living.

“If you’re a Bbnaija Ex housemate and you’re going through a rough patch listen “pack up all that I am a celebrity nonsense and lock it inside a box and come out and hustle oh, if not you go cry pass new born baby oh..,” Tochi wrote on X.

Phyna, the winner of the 2022 ‘Level Up’ season, quoted the post and agreed that some ex-housemates may have become overly reliant on the expectation of securing major brand endorsements because of their celebrity status.

“Finally someone said it I thought they said we are stars and them dey build brand, and that you have to just carry celebrity on your head and wait for one brand deal, since most of them decided to measure bbn stars by the number of deal they have 😂😂 and that because u go bbn you no suppose hustle hard again 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💔 I love the realizations thou, make una keep deceiving una sef with brand deals, popular brands go sign you with 5m them go say make una announce 50million 🤣 then you as the star go con dey feed on bragging rights and tittle with empty pockets after management don comot their 25% from the 5m. This idea of classism don too chop into people head, but we go dey okay.”

The exchange followed a candid revelation by former BBNaija Season 10 housemate Daniel Olatunji, popularly known as Danboskid, who recently spoke about the financial difficulties he has faced since leaving the show.

Danboskid shared a video on Instagram explaining that he had returned to “square zero” a year after his early exit from the reality show.

He was introduced as one of the housemates during the Season 10 launch night on July 27, 2025, before becoming the first housemate to be evicted from the season on August 10, 2025, after spending two weeks in the house.

His disclosure has sparked conversations about the realities former BBNaija housemates face after the publicity and attention generated by the show fade, with Tochi’s post urging them to abandon the expectation of celebrity treatment and pursue sustainable sources of income.
