The Nigeria Police Force has arrested 10 suspected criminals and recovered firearms, stolen vehicles, mobile phones and other valuables in separate operations across several states.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of the Force’s operational successes for Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
In Oyo State, police operatives arrested two suspected members of a trans-border armed robbery syndicate and recovered a stolen Lexus RX 350 and other valuables following intelligence on a criminal network specialising in the theft of exotic vehicles across Kwara and Oyo states.
The suspects, identified as 33-year-old Adewale Abiola and 36-year-old Kabiru Abobarin, alias KB, were arrested after abandoning the stolen vehicle and fleeing into the bush when police operatives intercepted them along the Ibadan-Ilorin Expressway on August 25.
Police said four HP laptops, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, seven wristwatches and jewellery belonging to the victim were also recovered.
“The stolen Lexus RX 350, four HP laptops, one iPhone 15 Pro Max, seven wristwatches and jewellery belonging to the victim were recovered,” the statement said.
The SCID, Ibadan, is investigating the case.
In Akwa Ibom State, five suspected armed robbers were arrested by detectives of the Eagle Response Squad at their hideout following investigations into an armed robbery incident.
According to the police, the suspects were identified through CCTV footage and reportedly confessed to the crime. Two locally made pistols and two shirts allegedly worn during the operation were recovered as exhibits.
The SCID, Uyo, is handling the investigation.
In Ekiti State, three suspected cultists were arrested after police operatives responded to an attack by armed hoodlums in Ijadu Community on August 25.
One locally made single-barrel gun, an axe, an expended cartridge shell, charms and other exhibits were recovered from the suspects.
The police said efforts were ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the group, including its alleged leader.
In Lagos State, police operatives responding to a distress call during a stop-and-search operation at Alakija arrested a suspected armed robber on August 24.
A prototype shotgun, two suspected stolen Android phones, cash and other exhibits were recovered, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang.
In Gombe State, police recovered two stolen cows following an armed robbery attack in Pata, Yamaltu-Deba Local Government Area, on August 25.
The victim sustained fatal injuries during the attack, while the two cows were later recovered from a bush in Daban Magarya Village, Balanga Local Government Area.
Police said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen motorcycle.

In the Federal Capital Territory, police recovered an abandoned Toyota Prado Jeep from a car wash in Mpape on August 22.
According to the police, an unidentified person left the vehicle at the car wash but failed to return for it. Operatives photographed, recovered and towed the vehicle to the police station for safekeeping and further investigation.
The CID, Abuja, is investigating the case.
The police also activated a joint rescue operation following the abduction of a resident at Taaju Settlement, Iseyin, Oyo State, on August 24.
Police operatives, Amotekun Corps, vigilantes and local hunters mobilised in response to the incident, while the Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad reinforced the operation.
“Intensive bush-combing [is] ongoing to locate and rescue the victim,” the statement said.
In another FCT incident, police and local vigilantes launched a joint tracking operation following the abduction of a 51-year-old man at Bobota Village, Kwali, on August 25.
Three empty K-2 ammunition shells were recovered from the scene, while efforts were ongoing to track the victim’s mobile phone, locate and rescue him and apprehend the perpetrators.
In Bauchi State, police operatives and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit mobilised following the abduction of a woman from her residence at Lamba Village, Itas/Gadau Local Government Area.
The police said surrounding areas were being combed in sustained efforts to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
In Zamfara State, police tactical teams and other security operatives launched rescue and pursuit operations following separate armed attacks and abductions along the Fegin Mahe-Mada Road and Shemori-Mada Road in Gusau Local Government Area between August 24 and 25.
The corpses of victims killed during the attacks were evacuated to hospitals for autopsy, while tactical teams commenced search and pursuit operations.
Following another attack at Take Tsaba Village in Talata Mafara Local Government Area, Police VCRU operatives and the military visited the scene and began combing surrounding bushes in an effort to rescue abducted persons and apprehend the perpetrators.
The police said the investigations and rescue operations in the affected states were ongoing.
