The Ghana Police Service has arrested several suspected drug peddlers during intelligence-led operations across parts of the Kumasi Metropolis.
The operation, carried out by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, led to the recovery of suspected narcotic substances from areas identified as drug distribution points.
According to the Police Public Affairs Unit in Kumasi, the operation was conducted on June 25, 2026.
During a raid in Asawase, police arrested 61-year-old Kwame Afriyie, popularly known as “Con Papa” or “American Man.”
A search of his room and provision shop led to the discovery of 33 and 48 parcels of compressed substances suspected to be cannabis.
Another operation in Asafo resulted in the arrest of Kofi Acheampong, also known as “Mokobiley.”
Police found 311 transparent sachets containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotics, 13 compressed parcels of dried leaves, and other suspected narcotic substances during a search.
Officers also recovered brown paper wraps containing black rock-like substances suspected to be drugs, as well as restricted pharmaceutical products.
In Krofrom, a 22-year-old National Service personnel identified as Michael Owusu Agyeman was arrested after being found with 15 bottles of fruit juice suspected to have been mixed with cannabis.
Further operations in Atonsu-Bokuro, Krofrom, Kenyase, Asokwa, Buokrom and Asafo BB led to the arrest of 10 additional suspects.
The suspects are Adamu Ibrahim, Stanley Boahene, Favour Emmanuel, Abubakar Sadick, Adwoa Serwaa Boamah, Paul Quagraine, Nana Kwasi Amo Peprah, Hamdiyah Ibrahim, Nicholas Adorku and Natson Yaaba.
Police say investigations are ongoing.
