Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured residents and visitors that the state government will continue to strengthen security across the state, particularly ahead of increased activities expected during the end-of-year period.
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance after meeting with security chiefs on September 29 at the State House, Marina, where he was briefed on security activities and plans to further strengthen the system.
“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” Sanwo-Olu said.
The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai; Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Brigadier-General A.O. Owolabi; Commander, NNS Beecroft, Nigerian Navy, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu; Commander, 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and Executive Secretary, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LASTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan.
Also present were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Lawal Pedro.

The Governor was briefed on security plans ahead of the end-of-year activities, with Lagos expected to witness an influx of visitors during the Yuletide.
The state will also host President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from September 29, with several activities expected to take place during his visit.
According to the statement, various religious and cultural activities are also scheduled across the state, while political activities are picking up following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission that campaigns can begin.
The Governor reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that Lagos remains secure for residents, visitors and all those participating in activities across the state.
