Top 10 Strongest Anime Characters

When it comes to anime, power and strength are two traits that may instantly distinguish a character from the competitors. If a character is compelling enough, fans will typically overlook poor writing or characterization.

While raw strength can surely influence which anime character is the strongest, many anime characters possess power that extends far beyond physique. These  are top 10 strongest anime characters who can distort reality with a single thought, and many notably strong anime characters will never cross that threshold.

1. Saitama (One-Punch Man)

Saitama from One Punch Man is arguably one of the strongest characters in anime. Few series can compete with him because he was meant to be the strongest.

In that regard, One-Punch Man differs from most other battle anime in that the protagonist is already the strongest person around, rather than seeking to achieve that status.

After three years of (not exceptionally) rigorous training, he can take any hit and defeat any opponent with a single Serious Punch. However, Saitama’s unrivalled strength leaves him melancholy, and the anime addresses the emptiness that comes with accomplishing a lifelong dream.

Saitama’s physical strength may be unrivalled, as evidenced by his sneezes destroying an entire planet in One-Punch Man, but it is meaningless if it does not bring him joy.

2. Yhwach (Bleach: A Thousand-Year Blood War)

Yhwach is one of the most powerful final villains in a long-running shōnen series. The leader of the Quincy more than deserves the title “the Almighty,” as he possesses all of the talents of every single Quincy.

The Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime goes into greater detail on Yhwach’s background than the original manga.

Yhwach’s Quincy talents and miraculous healing capabilities alone would make him a top anime villain, but his ability to see the future is what actually distinguishes him.

Furthermore, Yhwach can change the future if he dislikes it, making him nearly unbeatable.

3. Goku (Dragon Ball)

Super Saiyan Goku with his arms spread in Dragon Ball’s 40th Anniversary bonus film.

Dragon Ball fans disagree on which of the series’ characters is truly the strongest. While some may argue that Broly or Gohan are Dragon Ball’s current strongest characters, this is only true if we focus just on Dragon Ball Super.

When considering the entire franchise, it is evident that Goku truly deserves to be ranked as Dragon Ball’s strongest hero.

Except for Vegeta, no other Dragon Ball character has been revealed to have as many tools as Goku. From Perfected Ultra Instinct to Super Saiyan Blue, Super Saiyan 4, and his multiple fusion forms, Goku has the skills to extricate himself from practically any situation.

Though there is one Dragon Ball character greater than him, Goku’s continual ability to redefine power means he should not be underestimated for long.

4. Giorno Giovanna (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

Giorno is the protagonist of Jojo’s fifth part, Golden Wind, and possesses the Stand ability Golden Experience.

Golden Experience allows him to inject life force into both living and inanimate objects, briefly bringing them to life or significantly increasing their power. However, Giorno’s true strength is not revealed until the end of the series.

Golden Wind Requiem becomes a rare Stand that can function independently of its master and cancel out actions committed against it.

Once struck by Golden Experience Requiem, a person is bound in a never-ending cycle of reliving their death. This ability is a terrible and terrifying capability that no one wants to face.

5. Satoru Gojo (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Gojo is widely regarded as Jujutsu Kaisen’s most powerful sorcerer, and for good cause. While he is already extremely intelligent and strong, his cursed skills, Limitless and Infinity, propel him to new heights.

With Limitless, Gojo can effectively manage space, giving him exceptional attacking and defensive powers.

Gojo also has Infinity, which allows any assault launched against him to approach indefinitely close but never touch him, in an astonishingly exact interpretation of Zeno’s Paradox.

Gojo may not be impossible to defeat in Jujutsu Kaisen, but his raw might places him among the series’ strongest characters by a large margin.

6 Sung Jinwoo (Solo Leveling)

The protagonist of Solo Levelling, Sung Jinwoo, is the world’s most powerful hunter and a formidable opponent.

Jinwoo not only possesses tremendous physical abilities such as strength, speed, and durability, but he can also significantly boost his powers after each encounter. Jinwoo rapidly has an advantage over other hunters because he is the only one who can advance.

In addition to levelling up, Jinwoo gains the ability to become a Shadow Monarch, which involves stealing the shadows of his vanquished adversaries and repurposing them as pawns and soldiers for use in combat.

This not only makes him a formidable opponent as an individual, but enemies will struggle to keep up with his growing army.

7. Monkey D. Luffy

Monkey D. Luffy’s rubberman powers may not appear to be much when the drawback prevents him from swimming or even moving when he comes into contact with water, especially as a pirate.

However, Luffy’s training over the span of ten years has allowed him to master this talent and become extremely creative with its limitations and mysteries.

Luffy’s transformations vary from “Gear 2” to “Gear 5,” with each showcasing a drastically different way of utilising his rubbery nature to improve his battle abilities. Luffy is also a master of Haki, a technique for channelling spiritual energy for both fight and non-combat reasons.

8. Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon)

Casual Sailor Moon viewers may wonder how Usagi can be ranked among the strongest anime characters of all time, but her genuine power more than justifies her inclusion.

With the power of the Silver Crystal, Sailor Moon can not only be reincarnated multiple times, but she can even resurrect an entire planet of people.

Usagi, at her most powerful, has the ability to manipulate space and time, making her basically a deity. Usagi may be the most amazingly strong anime heroine, but she is not the most powerful magical girl.

9. Haruhi Suzumiya (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)

Haruhi Suzumiya’s skills may be unknown, yet she is shockingly capable. Haruhi appears to be a normal high school girl with the ability to totally rearrange reality at command.

If she believes in time-travelers, aliens, or talking animals, her innate power will rewrite the world such that they exist where they did not previously.

Unfortunately for Haruhi, these abilities have one big drawback: Haruhi has no awareness that she has talents in the first place. This weakness drastically limits Haruhi’s potential ability, as everything is constructed by chance.

Still, it’s a testament to her immense power that even this disadvantage can’t keep her from placing well.

10. Grand King Zeno (Dragon Ball Super)

Zeno, the emperor of the multiverse in Dragon Ball Super, can create and destroy all of existence in a single instant. He has no tactics or special moves; he is merely an all-powerful god who dominates space and time with reckless abandon.

Zeno obliterated Future Trunks’ whole chronology without exerting any effort, wiping out a villain who had merged himself into the fabric of reality with a single wave of his hand.

Even Dragon Ball Super’s destruction gods fear Zeno. There is no way to defeat this deity, making Zeno one of the most powerful anime characters of all time.
