A Nigerian man has sparked widespread reactions online after criticising the growing trend of men asking women out immediately after meeting them for the first time.
The video, which has since gone viral across social media platforms, captures the man expressing strong disapproval of what he described as “rushed and senseless” relationship approaches among some young men.
Criticism of instant proposals
In the clip, the man questioned the logic behind developing romantic interest within hours of meeting someone, arguing that such behaviour reflects poor judgement and lack of emotional maturity.
“You see the set of boys that will ask you for your number and you give it to them and the same day… they will chat you up and tell you that they like you and that same day… they’ll be asking you to be their girlfriend,” he said.
He went further to describe such actions in harsh terms, saying, “You see the set of boys. They are very very stupid… Those set of boys are so strange.”
The speaker also expressed disbelief at how quickly some individuals attempt to form romantic connections without proper understanding or communication.
Concerns about modern dating culture
The man raised concerns about what he sees as a decline in meaningful relationship building, stressing that getting to know someone should take time rather than being rushed.
“How can you tell me that you meet a girl the first time and you’ll be asking the girl out? For what?” he questioned.
He added in a mix of Pidgin and English, “Bro, you know wetin you dey find? You no just get sense at all?”
Reactions towards women who accept
Beyond criticising men, the speaker also questioned women who agree to such immediate proposals, suggesting that it reflects poor decision-making on their part as well.
“And all those girls that will accept that kind of nonsense, I don’t even understand you girls… then we meet on the first day, we chat you and I’ll be asking you out and you accept the guy. That’s wrong,” he stated.
