Troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH have arrested a 29-year-old man, identified as Mabwe Zakaria, over an alleged attempt to sell a stolen cow at a cattle market in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspect was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 25, by troops of Sector 8, in collaboration with personnel from Sector 5, according to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama.
The cattle was reportedly identified by its owner at the market, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the animal was allegedly among dozens of livestock rustled on August 18, following an attack on Fulani herders in Quan’Pan Local Government Area of the state.
Zakaria remains in custody as investigators work to establish his alleged involvement in the cattle rustling and identify other possible accomplices.
Security agencies are continuing operations against cattle rustling and other criminal activities across affected communities in Plateau State.
