The United States Mission in Nigeria has warned visa applicants that fraudulent documents or information suggesting a potential security threat can trigger immediate action by US authorities.

The mission said consular officers alert all relevant US government agencies whenever they detect fraudulent documents during the visa application process or uncover information indicating that an applicant may pose a potential threat.

“We are coordinating to protect national security and keep criminals and bad actors out,” the US Mission Nigeria said in a post on X on Monday.

The mission urged applicants to ensure that all documents and information submitted as part of their visa applications are genuine and accurate.

It shared the warning as part of its #VisaWiseTravelSmart campaign, aimed at promoting informed and responsible visa application and travel practices.
