The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, has challenged President Bola Tinubu
over alleged interference with opposition parties ahead of the 2027 election.Naijaonpoint reports that Adebayo, while fielding questions in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’, accused Tinubu of being the author of the internal political crisis bedevilling the SDP.
The SDP is currently facing internal wrangling, leading to Adebayo’s expulsion by the party’s Shehu Gabam faction.
Speaking on the development, Adebayo urged Tinubu to stick to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that he cannot be the Candidate-General of the Federation.
He said, “President Tinubu is the author of the so-called crisis in the SDP. What they are doing to the SDP mirrors what they have done to other political parties. We do not know who Abimbola Atanda is within the SDP, and we do not engage with agents.
“I am simply letting President Tinubu know that he cannot be the candidate for the APC, SDP, and Labour Party; he cannot be the Candidate-General of the nation. He should stick to his own party.
“They passed a law stating that no one can belong to more than one party, yet Tinubu wants to be affiliated with all political parties while acting as the Chairman of INEC and a part-time Chief Justice of Nigeria.”
