Abia State Governor Alex Otti

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State on Saturday emerged unopposed as the Labour Party governorship candidate in the state.

Otti was declared winner at the party’s governorship primary held at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia.

The National Organising Secretary of the Labour Party, Mrs Oluchi Okpara, who served as the returning officer for the primary, announced Otti as winner.

Similarly, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, secured the Labour Party senatorial ticket for his sixth-term bid.

Abaribe, who won the seat in 2023 on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, later defected to the Labour Party after a brief stay in the ADP.

Senator Darlington Nwokocha, who was displaced at the Court of Appeal by incumbent Senator Austin Akobundu, also emerged as the Labour Party candidate for Abia Central.

Amobi Ogah and other serving Labour Party members of the House of Representatives from Abia also secured their return tickets.
