Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Monday inaugurated the reconstituted Governing Council of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), with Professor Adewale Abiodun Oladipo retained as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Council.
Adeleke disclosed this in a statement posted on his X handle on Monday, August 31, 2026, saying the move was part of efforts to strengthen the university’s governance and improve its standing among leading state-owned universities in Nigeria.
The governor said UNIOSUN had recorded significant progress under its management and governing council, citing the institution’s projects and achievements as evidence of the impact of stability and shared commitment.
“I am particularly pleased with the progress recorded by UNIOSUN under its Management and Governing Council,” Adeleke said.

He described the university’s achievements as a demonstration of what could be accomplished through stability, commitment and a shared vision for excellence.
According to Adeleke, retaining Oladipo would provide continuity and experience needed to consolidate the university’s progress.
He charged the reconstituted council to work closely with the university management and be guided by the law, mutual respect and a shared commitment to advancing the institution.
The governor also pledged continued government support for initiatives aimed at strengthening UNIOSUN’s academic standing, research capacity and innovation ecosystem.
“As a Government, we will continue to support initiatives that strengthen the University’s academic standing, research capacity, innovation ecosystem and overall development,” he said.
Adeleke described UNIOSUN as a major investment of the people of Osun State and expressed confidence that the new council would build on the institution’s existing achievements.
“UNIOSUN is more than a university; it is one of the enduring investments of the people of Osun State and a source of pride for us all,” he said.
The governor said he expected the reconstituted council to position the institution for greater excellence and global recognition.
He also expressed hope that the university would continue to produce graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to society.
