First-term governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are currently meeting behind closed doors at the Delta State Government House, Asaba, following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and APC governors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.
The meeting, hosted by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, is bringing together first-term APC governors to deliberate on governance, party cohesion and issues of national development.
The Asaba meeting comes barely a day after Tinubu met with governors elected on the APC platform, under the auspices of the Progressives Governors Forum, at the Presidential Villa.

Although details of Thursday’s meeting with the President were not made public, it was held after the governors participated in a separate session of the National Economic Council (NEC) chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The meeting in Asaba is expected to provide an opportunity for the first-term governors to further discuss issues arising from their engagement with the President, as well as matters affecting the party and governance across their respective states.
The closed-door meeting is also expected to focus on strengthening cooperation among the governors and advancing the APC’s broader political and development agenda.
