The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all 17 chairmanship seats in the Yobe State local government elections held on September 26, 2026.
Acording to a report by Punch, the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission announced the results on Sunday in Damaturu, with its Executive Chairman, Dr Ibrahim Yabani, declaring the APC candidates winners across the state’s 17 local government areas.
Yabani said the election was conducted across 178 electoral wards, with 10 political parties participating in the exercise.
According to him, votes were counted and collated after the exercise, with councillorship results declared at the ward level, while chairmanship results were announced at the respective local government collation centres.
“Our duty here is just to announce what was declared at the collation centres so that we can now declare who are the winners,” he said.

In the results announced, Musa Dagona of the APC emerged winner in Bade Local Government Area with 54,312 votes, while Lawan Bukar won in Bursari with 24,331 votes.
Bukar Adamu secured victory in Damaturu with 18,465 votes, Abdulmumin Usani won Fika with 61,326 votes, while Baba-Goni Bade emerged winner in Fune with 74,411 votes.
In Geidam, Mohammed Musa was declared winner with 35,832 votes, while Dala Mala won Gujba with 27,900 votes. Dayyabu Ilu secured Gulani with 35,999 votes, Umaru Aguya won Jakusko with 47,653 votes and Umara Mohammed emerged victorious in Karasuwa with 39,320 votes.
The commission also declared Idriss Mai Bukar winner in Machina with 24,092 votes and Samaila Musa winner in Nangere with 37,780 votes.
Mohammed Malami won Nguru with 45,836 votes, Salisu Muktari secured Potiskum with 58,705 votes, while Mohammed Musa won Tarmuwa with 19,500 votes.
Zanna Zakaria was declared winner in Yunusari with 35,848 votes, while Adam Jibrin won Yusufari with 31,930 votes.
The election was held simultaneously across Yobe State’s 17 local government areas and 178 electoral wards. Preparations for the poll had included training of electoral officers and the screening of candidates by the state electoral commission.
