A young man has become the subject of online ridicule after his marriage proposal was turned down by his girlfriend, just moments after he had gifted her a brand-new iPhone 17 Pro Max in what appeared to be a carefully planned romantic gesture.
According to the video making rounds on social media, the pair were seated together when the man first presented her with the phone, a gift she happily accepted with a wide smile, clearly touched by the gesture. What followed only moments later, however, took an unexpected turn.
The man is seen going down on one knee, pulling out a ring in a bid to formally propose to her. Despite the warmth of the moment just seconds earlier, the lady declined to accept the ring, gently but firmly rejecting his proposal in front of onlookers who had gathered to witness the moment.
Passersby who noticed what was happening could be heard encouraging her to reconsider and say yes, but she remained firm in her decision, leaving the man visibly disappointed as he processed the rejection in public.
The video has since drawn widespread reactions and no shortage of jokes online, with many social media users poking fun at the timing of the rejection, given how generous the gift had been just moments before. Others, however, have defended the lady’s right to decline a proposal regardless of any gift received beforehand.
