A tense confrontation has broken out at the Battor Catholic Hospital Mortuary Annex in Anyamam, in the Ada West District, after family members accused a mortuary attendant of losing track of their deceased relative’s body.
According to those present, the family had visited the facility expecting to make arrangements involving their late relative, only to be met with troubling news that the body could not be accounted for.
Frustrated and demanding answers, the family confronted the attendant on duty, seeking an explanation for what had happened to their loved one’s remains.
What began as a heated exchange of words quickly escalated into a physical altercation, with the mortuary attendant reportedly responding to the family’s anger with equal force rather than attempting to de-escalate the situation.
Onlookers described the scene as chaotic, likening the confrontation to a “warzone” as both sides clashed outside the facility.
The commotion drew the attention of residents and passersby in the area, many of whom gathered to witness the unfolding drama, with some attempting to intervene and calm the situation down.
The incident has since raised serious concerns about accountability and record-keeping at mortuary facilities, with many online calling for a full investigation into how the body reportedly went missing and demanding answers on behalf of the grieving family.
