Prof. Isa Pantami, the immediate past minister of communications and digital economy, has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and secured the party’s governorship ticket in Gombe state ahead of the 2027 election.
Pantami emerged through voice affirmation during the PDP governorship primary held on Tuesday in Gombe.
Gregory Yenlong, chairman of the PDP electoral panel, declared Pantami winner of the primary election as the sole aspirant.
Speaking after the exercise, Pantami said he joined the governorship race to serve the people of Gombe and pledged to govern the state with fairness and justice if elected in 2027.
The former minister had earlier rejected the consensus arrangement of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
