The lead pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has lauded the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, for his swift action in dismissing Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman.
The police officer was caught on camera shooting and killing a 28-year-old suspect, Mene Ogidi, in broad daylight in Effurun, Delta State.
Suleman expressed his appreciation for IGP Disu’s decision during a Sunday service, commending the police leader for his commitment to justice. He said, “I was deeply troubled when I saw the video of the police officer extrajudicially killing a young man. However, when I learned that the IGP had dismissed the officer and ordered his prosecution, I was relieved. This is how leadership should look.”
The cleric went on to emphasize the importance of holding people accountable for their actions, saying that failure to punish wrongdoing breeds chaos. “When bad behavior goes unpunished, it becomes a norm. Leadership is about maintaining order for progress,” he added.
Suleman also highlighted the significance of a nation with a strong moral compass, stating, “Prayers can only work when the leader is good. You can’t pray for a nation under bad leadership. Now, with a good leader at the helm, prayers become powerful.”
He concluded by stressing that true transformation of a nation only happens when there are no “sacred cows” and when everyone, no matter their position, is held accountable for their actions. “Countries like those in Europe and America have order because there are consequences for every action,” Suleman stated.
