Former Lagos CP Owoseni declares for Oyo governorship election

Former Lagos and Benue State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, has picked up the Accord Party expression of interest and nomination forms to contest the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

Owoseni, who recently resigned from his roles as Special Adviser on Security to Governor Seyi Makinde and Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund, collected the forms at the Accord Party secretariat in Yemetu, Ibadan.

Speaking to party members, Owoseni said Oyo State has the potential to become financially independent and improve the lives of its people. He said he wants to help restore the state to the level of development it enjoyed during the era of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

He praised Governor Makinde’s efforts and said his achievements should be sustained through continuity in governance. According to him, better public schools, improved welfare for civil servants, and proper development policies can help the state regain its former pride.

Owoseni explained that his decision to run for governor is based on his desire to continue serving humanity and add value to the progress already made in the state. He noted that after spending 35 years in the police service, he has remained committed to contributing to Oyo State’s development even after retirement.

He also encouraged Nigerians living abroad to return home and support national development. Owoseni added that politics should not be seen as dirty, stressing that good people can participate and positively influence the system.
