The Lagos State Police Command has identified the police inspector seen in a viral video making inappropriate remarks while travelling in public transport as Inspector Osumah Frank.
The Command said it has commenced disciplinary action against the officer in line with established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebesi, said the remarks made by the inspector were made in his personal capacity and did not represent the views or official position of the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.
“The Command has commenced appropriate disciplinary action against the officer in line with established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement said.
The Command stressed that all police personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, said wearing the police uniform carries the responsibility of upholding the dignity and integrity of the Force.
“The Command will not condone any conduct capable of bringing the Force into disrepute or undermining public confidence in the Police,” he said.
The Command reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability and policing with humility and integrity.
