The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) to accelerate digital transformation among Nigerian businesses.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of GITEX Nigeria 2026, which held in Abuja and Lagos from August 31 to September 3, bringing together government agencies, technology companies, investors and start-ups to advance Nigeria’s digital economy.

The partnership is expected to strengthen collaboration between NITDA and the organised private sector, with a focus on promoting the adoption of digital technologies, improving business efficiency and supporting the growth of enterprises.

It also builds on existing efforts by both organisations to integrate digital infrastructure into Nigeria’s broader economic development. NITDA has previously said it is working with NACCIMA on digitising its infrastructure and supporting public-private partnerships in the digital space.

The collaboration comes as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to position technology, artificial intelligence and digital infrastructure as key drivers of economic growth and industrialisation. GITEX Nigeria 2026 was themed “Beyond Connectivity: The Bridge to Sovereign AI and Innovation.”

The MoU is therefore expected to provide a stronger framework for businesses to leverage digital tools and technologies while contributing to the expansion of Nigeria’s digital economy.
