The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), Zamfara State Chapter, has commended Governor Dauda Lawal for approving and implementing the new Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for veterinary doctors in the state.
The association described the implementation as a significant milestone for the veterinary profession and a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, professional recognition and the development of the livestock and animal health sector.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Dr Mukhtar Salihu Anka, PhD, the NVMA said veterinary doctors play a critical role in safeguarding animal health, improving livestock productivity, controlling zoonotic diseases, ensuring food safety and protecting public health.
The association particularly praised Governor Lawal for addressing longstanding concerns over appropriate remuneration and professional welfare, saying the new salary structure would boost staff morale, improve productivity and encourage veterinary doctors to deliver quality services to livestock farmers and residents.
“The implementation of the new salary scale is a significant milestone for the veterinary profession in Zamfara State,” the association said.
The NVMA Zamfara Chapter also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the state government in advancing animal health, livestock development, public health and the socio-economic development of the state.
It thanked the governor for what it described as a “landmark intervention” and expressed hope for continued progress under his administration.
