The Nigeria Police Force has reported a series of operational successes across several states, including the foiling of a kidnapping attempt, arrests of suspected cultists and other suspects, recovery of firearms and the rescue of kidnapped victims.
The Force disclosed this in its state-by-state executive summary of operational successes for September 27, 2026, issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, ANIPR.
In Katsina State, police operatives and tactical teams foiled an attempted kidnapping at Sabon Gari Maikomo Village on September 25 after engaging suspected bandits in a gun duel. The suspects reportedly fled into the bush, while an injured victim was evacuated to a General Hospital for treatment.
In Benue State, two suspected cultists were arrested on September 26 after police responded to a distress call involving two individuals allegedly brandishing a firearm at a youth executive election meeting. A locally fabricated pistol was recovered from the suspects.
Two suspects were also arrested in Ebonyi State over the alleged abduction and sexual assault of two female victims. Police said the suspects, alongside the victims and case file, were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abakaliki for further investigation.
In Oyo State, police conducting stop-and-search operations along the Ibadan-Ife Expressway intercepted a commercial vehicle and arrested a suspect after recovering a locally made pistol and one live cartridge.
The police also arrested two suspected electrical cable vandals along the Igboora-Eruwa Expressway and recovered aluminium conductor wire allegedly vandalised from electricity poles.
Another suspect was arrested in Oyo State following an attempted murder incident at Balose Village. The injured victim was evacuated to Bowen University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso, for medical treatment.
In Kano State, police patrol operatives responded to a mob attack at Kofar Mata and rescued an Assistant Superintendent of Police who had been attacked by the mob. The officer was evacuated for medical treatment, while normalcy was restored in the area.

In Kebbi State, police tactical units and vigilante operatives were deployed to Dadin Kowa Village following a kidnapping incident. The police said manhunt and bush-combing operations were ongoing to rescue the abducted victims and apprehend the perpetrators.
Similar rescue operations were reported in Kwara State, where police, vigilantes and forest guards were deployed following the abduction of a victim on September 24.
Another operation was launched on September 27 along the Eruku/Koro Road following an attack, with police, military personnel and local vigilantes conducting bush-combing operations to locate and rescue seven missing persons.
In Enugu State, police operatives from the Violent Crimes Response Unit were deployed following the abduction of a female victim. Tracking and bush-combing operations were ongoing to rescue her and arrest those responsible.
Police operatives in Anambra State also commenced a rescue operation after six persons were abducted on September 25. The operation is being conducted in collaboration with other security personnel.
In Kogi State, four kidnapped victims escaped from their captors on September 25, after which police and other security forces launched bush-combing and clearance operations in the area.
In Niger State, combined teams of police, military personnel and local vigilantes were deployed to Saminaka Village following a reported terrorist attack. Joint security teams were subsequently deployed to track the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, the police said search and rescue operations were ongoing in Bayelsa State following a boat mishap on the Oporoma River.
The Force said the various incidents remained under investigation by the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments, while rescue, tracking and clearance operations continued in areas where suspects or victims had yet to be located.
