Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a suspected terrorist, recovered an AK-47 rifle and rescued six attempted kidnap victims in separate operations in Sokoto and Zamfara states.
The operations were conducted on Saturday, September 26, 2026, according to a statement by the task force on Sunday.
In Sokoto State, troops of Sector 2 acted on intelligence about the presence of a suspected terrorist camp in Gudu Local Government Area.
The troops moved to the location and engaged an isolated suspected terrorist, who was neutralised during the operation.
Items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a foreign military uniform, as well as various tools and clothing.
In Zamfara State, troops responded to information about an attempted abduction involving members of the Sarkin Samari’s family in Tsafe Local Government Area.
The troops arrived at the scene and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw into nearby bushes.
Six kidnap victims were subsequently rescued and taken to a safe location pending their reunification with their families.
The task force said the operations demonstrated the resolve and professionalism of its troops in protecting lives and property across the North-West.
It urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information on the activities of terrorists and other criminal elements in their communities.
