Popular land developer and Lagos political chieftain, Chief Taoridi Faronbi, popularly known as Baba Alado, has died.
Faronbi died on Saturday, September 26, 2026. He was buried according to Islamic rites.
The funeral rites were attended by Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon, popularly known as GOS; Chairman of Mushin Local Government, Tunbosun Haruna Aruwe; Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Dr Oluseyi Jakande, and other dignitaries.
Until his death, Faronbi was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Olori Ebi (head) of the Alagbeji Royal Family in Papa Ajao, Mushin, Lagos.
He was also the Akinrogun of Isolo Kingdom and the Babaloja of Aswani Market.
Faronbi was a prominent figure in Lagos politics, social circles and the transport sector, where he was widely respected as a leader within the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
Known as a grassroots mobiliser and influential political figure, his reach extended across Mushin and other parts of Lagos for several decades.
His prominence also extended into the entertainment industry, with several popular musicians, including K1 De Ultimate, Osupa and Pasuma, regularly paying tribute to him in their songs.
Mushin Local Government Chairman, Tunbosun Aruwe, described Faronbi as a father figure, mentor, leader and political stalwart who made significant contributions to the political and community life of Mushin.
In a condolence statement, Aruwe said: “It is with a deeply saddened heart and a profound sense of loss that I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of Late Chief Alhaji Taoridi Faronbi (Alado), my father figure, my mentor, my leader and our respected political stalwart, who passed away today, 26th September, 2026.
“His death is not only a great loss to his immediate family, but also a painful loss to me personally. Late Chief Alhaji Taoridi Faronbi was more than a political associate; he was a father figure, a trusted elder and a man whose guidance, wisdom, fatherly counsel and presence meant so much to me.”
Aruwe said Faronbi’s death had left a void that would be difficult to fill, adding that his contributions to the political and community life of Mushin would remain part of his legacy.
He prayed for Allah to forgive Faronbi’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
