Singer Bonnie Tyler in coma

Legendary Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler, 74, is currently in an induced coma at a hospital in Faro, Portugal, after her health took a sudden turn for the worse following emergency bowel surgery. The Total Eclipse of the Heart star was rushed to Faro Hospital late last month after being diagnosed with a perforated intestine, and underwent immediate surgery.

Although she was reported to be stable earlier this week, her condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to her being placed in an induced coma on Thursday. Local media confirmed that she is now unconscious and receiving support from a ventilator in the intensive care unit.

Portuguese daily Correio da ManhĂŁ reported that doctors have expressed uncertainty about her condition, with officials awaiting autopsy results to determine the full extent of her injuries.

Tyler, who divides her time between Portugal and the UK, had been recovering well following the surgery, with her spokesperson announcing just one day before the setback that the operation had been successful. At the time, her team reassured fans that she was recuperating and would be looking forward to a full recovery.

Bonnie’s daughter, Ruth, and her husband, Robert Sullivan, are by her side as she fights for her health. The family has requested privacy and compassion during this difficult time.

The singer’s family and fans have been deeply moved by the news, with many taking to social media to express their support.

Tyler had been gearing up for her European tour later this year, with fans excited for her return to the stage after many years in the industry. Despite her advancing years, the singer has often spoken about her desire to continue performing, drawing inspiration from fellow musicians like Tom Jones, who remains active in his 80s.

In 2013, she represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in 19th place with her song Believe in Me. Although she admitted to some health concerns earlier this year, including knee pain, she remained determined to stay fit and continue performing for as long as possible
