The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says its maintenance crew is working to repair a fault on the 33kV NIPP feeder at the Kubwa 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by TCN management on Tuesday, the feeder tripped at 9:39am on Sunday, September 20, 2026, following an earth fault.
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) maintenance team subsequently patrolled the feeder and certified it safe for restoration.
However, when TCN attempted to restore the feeder at 6:34pm, it tripped again on overcurrent and earth fault, causing the blue-phase interrupter head of the feeder circuit breaker to shatter.
TCN said the damage has prevented AEDC from taking bulk electricity supply to customers in FO1, Dantata Estate, Byazhin, Byazhin Across and Gbazango.
The company said repairs on the damaged breaker are ongoing and power supply would be restored as soon as the work is completed.
“TCN regrets any inconveniences caused by the outage and assures that power supply will be restored as soon as repair work on the breaker is completed,” the statement said.
