The Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, has recorded a 202 per cent week-on-week surge in the number of terrorist commanders, fighters and affiliates surrendering to troops in the North-East.
The latest figure rose from more than 50 surrenders recorded in the previous week to over 150 in the current week, according to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Mohammed Goni.
Goni, in a statement issued on Monday, said the development reflected the cumulative impact of sustained intelligence-led operations, intensified military pressure and coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic efforts by troops.

He said the increase was also an indication of growing pressure within terrorist formations, particularly on their freedom of movement, logistics, sustainment and ability to retain personnel in their enclaves.
“The significant increase reflects the cumulative impact of sustained intelligence-led operations, intensified military pressure and coordinated kinetic and non-kinetic efforts aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and encouraging voluntary disengagement from terrorism,” Goni said.
The military spokesperson said the recovery of weapons and ammunition from some of the surrendering terrorists further demonstrated the impact of sustained operations against the groups.
He said the surge also highlighted the effectiveness of Operation Hadin Kai’s comprehensive counter-insurgency strategy, which combines intelligence-led operations with strategic communication, civil-military engagement and other non-kinetic measures.
According to him, the measures were disrupting terrorist activities and support networks, weakening hostile narratives and encouraging more fighters and affiliates to abandon terrorism.
“Strategic communication remains central to this effort by conveying credible messages to those willing to abandon terrorism while exposing the consequences of continued association with terrorist groups,” he said.
Goni said all terrorists who surrender were profiled and documented before being handled in line with established procedures and applicable laws.
He added that the Theatre would sustain the momentum in order to encourage further disengagement and weaken terrorist recruitment and sustainment mechanisms.
The Military High Command, according to the statement, commended troops for their resilience, discipline and operational effectiveness, while urging them to maintain the pressure on terrorist groups and deny them freedom of action across the theatre.
“Operation HADIN KAI remains resolute in its mission to sustain pressure on terrorist networks, disrupt their capabilities and support structures, protect civilians and create the conditions necessary for the restoration of lasting peace, security and normalcy across the North East region,” Goni said.
