At least two children have died and severa others are receiving treatment after a building collapsed during heavy rainfall in Gandun Sarki community, Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The downpour, which lasted for more than an hour in parts of the state, also destroyed houses and left several communities in and around Hadejia affected by floodwaters.

The father of the two children, Suma’ila, says the building collapsed in the early hours of Friday while the children, aged five and eight, were asleep inside.
He says other family members were injured and taken to Hadejia General Hospital for treatment.
Residents say more than 20 houses have collapsed, while several others have been submerged or surrounded by floodwaters.
One of the affected residents, Sani Abubakar, whose house was completely destroyed, is appealing to the Jigawa State Government and relevant emergency agencies for urgent assistance.
The community leader, Malam Jamilu Bulama, says he has directed local leaders to compile the names of affected households to help authorities assess the scale of the damage.
Despite the latest incident, residents say the impact of flooding in the Hadejia Emirate has reduced compared with previous years, following the construction of drainage channels and culverts by the Jigawa State Government.
With more rainfall expected during the season, residents are calling for faster emergency response, stronger drainage systems and support for families whose homes have been destroyed.
