Zamfara State has adopted a revised salary structure for health workers, with employees across the state’s health sector set to receive up to a 95 per cent increase in their salaries.
The new structure, which took effect on September 7, 2026, is benchmarked against the Federal Government’s approved health-sector remuneration framework, including the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS).
The Head of Civil Service, Shehu Baraya, conveyed the decision in a circular dated September 10, 2026, referenced HS/Z/001/54/VOL.II.
The circular directed ministries, departments, agencies, boards, commissions and other government establishments to communicate the new salary arrangements to affected personnel and support their implementation.
The state government said the review was part of ongoing reforms by Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to improve the health sector and address the welfare and working conditions of health personnel.
It said the improved remuneration was expected to strengthen the workforce, raise staff morale and create a better environment for healthcare delivery.
Alongside the revised basic salaries, the circular also provides for hazard allowances for clinical and non-clinical health workers across different salary grades.
Clinical workers on grades 1 to 5 are listed to receive N15,200 as hazard allowance, compared with N14,250 for non-clinical workers.
For grades 6 to 12, the allowance is N30,400 for clinical personnel and N28,500 for non-clinical workers.
Those on grades 13 to 15 are listed to receive N32,300 for clinical duties and N30,400 for non-clinical positions.
The government urged health workers to respond to the improved remuneration with greater dedication, professionalism and productivity.
It also directed personnel to observe official working hours, maintain discipline and comply with public service rules and established work ethics.
“The government appreciates the continued commitment and sacrifices of Health Workers and looks forward to their renewed dedication towards building a stronger, more responsive and efficient health sector in Zamfara State,” the circular stated.
