The Anambra State Police Command has arrested the last identified member of a notorious kidnapping and armed robbery gang allegedly linked to a 2023 abduction that ended in the death of the victim.
Police operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department arrested 25-year-old Olisa Oyelu, alias Obele ‘M’, in the early hours of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, after sustained intelligence gathering and investigation.
The Command said Oyelu was allegedly an active member of the gang led by a suspected criminal known as “Pincode”.
The gang was allegedly involved in the 2023 kidnapping operation, prompting the Police to launch an extensive investigation to identify and bring all those connected with the crime to justice.
According to the Command, “Pincode” and four other suspects are already being held on remand at a correctional facility pending the outcome of their court case.
Oyelu is expected to be handed over to the Correctional Centre after the conclusion of investigative proceedings.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the investigating officers for their perseverance and intelligence-led approach.
Ama assured residents that the Command would continue to pursue criminal elements operating within and outside the state.
He also urged members of the public to provide credible and timely information to the Police, stressing that security remains a shared responsibility.
