The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), in collaboration with the Trade Union Congress (TUC), has conditionally suspended its nationwide industrial action across Federal Unity Colleges over the proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for King’s College, Lagos.
The decision followed major concessions by the Federal Government on the proposed concession of the college.
The suspension was reached at an emergency high-level meeting in Abuja chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa.
Following the meeting, the union leadership directed civil servants across Federal Unity Colleges nationwide to resume normal official duties with immediate effect.
However, ASCSN stressed that the suspension was conditional and warned that the industrial action would be reinstated without further notice if the joint committee fails to adequately address the unions’ concerns within two weeks.
The union said it would closely monitor the committee’s work and expects the outstanding issues surrounding the proposed PPP arrangement to be resolved within the agreed timeframe.
