The Lagos State House of Assembly has mourned the death of a former member, Hon. Kamal Owolabi Olorunoje, who died on Tuesday morning.

The death of the former lawmaker was announced during Tuesday’s plenary by Hon. Lanre Afinni, representing Lagos Island Constituency II.

Afinni said Olorunoje represented Lagos Island Constituency II in the 3rd Assembly of the Lagos State House of Assembly before later serving as a member of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission.

Contributing to the matter, Hon. Oladele Ajayi described the former lawmaker’s death as a great loss, particularly at a time when political activities were intensifying across the state.

Ajayi urged the House to formally convey its condolences to the deceased’s family and observe a minute of silence in his honour.

Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, also commiserated with the family of late Nollywood actor, Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as “Ogogo”.

Obasa acknowledged Hassan’s significant contributions to the Nigerian entertainment industry, describing his death as a loss to his colleagues, associates and society at large.

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to convey the Assembly’s condolences to the families of the deceased.

The House prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the deceased and for Almighty Allah to grant their families, loved ones and associates the fortitude to bear the losses.
