Veteran entertainer, Charly Boy, has said he cannot dictate how his 50-year-old daughter should live her life, stressing that she is old enough to make her own decisions.
Charly Boy, in a post shared on Instagram on Friday said that while he could advise his daughter and express his views as a father, he had no right to control her choices.
TVC News Online reports that Charly Boy earlier in the day called on netizens to wish his daughter and her female partner well on their engagement.
Speaking in a subsequent post, he said, “How you wan tell 50-year-old woman how to live her life? At that age, she don already live enough life to know herself.
“As a father, I fit advise. I fit talk my mind. But I no get remote control for another adult’s life.”
The entertainer said his daughter, who he noted had given him five grandchildren and a great-grandson, remained his daughter regardless of the choices she made.

He said she had experienced difficulties in a previous marriage before moving on to the current relationship.
According to him, he could not choose happiness on for his daughter, noting that his own father had been unable to stop him from becoming the person he wanted to be.
“My own father couldn’t stop me from becoming Charlyboy the man I wanted to become.
“So who am I to stand in front of my daughter and try to control the life she has chosen for herself?” he asked.
Charly Boy maintained that everyone deserved the freedom to pursue their own happiness.
“I wish her happiness. I wish everybody happiness. At the end of the day, na love remain,” he added.
He urged people to live according to their convictions and seek happiness in their own way.
