Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has backed Seyi Tinubu as a potential president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), saying he has the youthfulness and understanding needed to transform Nigerian football.
Martins made the remarks during an interview with former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel on the Obi One Podcast, where he spoke about the need for younger leadership capable of understanding both the game and the Nigerian football system.
“He’s young and he understands what Nigerian people want. I think he can change that. He can change that. He can change that,” Martins said.

Asked if Tinubu was already doing enough to contribute to the development of football in the country, Martins acknowledged that he does not occupy the NFF presidency but noted that he has been making efforts.
“I mean, he’s not the President, but still he’s making an effort,” he added.
Martins’ comments come amid growing calls for reforms and fresh leadership within Nigerian football, with stakeholders increasingly advocating for individuals who understand the challenges facing the sport and can deliver meaningful changes.
