Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan rounded off her 2026 season with a second-place finish in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Athlos meeting in London on Friday.
Amusan clocked 12.51 seconds with a legal tailwind of 1.2m/s at StoneX Stadium, finishing just 0.01 seconds behind American Alaysha Johnson, who won the race in 12.50 seconds. Athlos’ official prize structure awards $35,000 to the runner-up.
The result brings the curtain down on a season in which Amusan remained among the leading hurdlers in the world, even as she surrendered her long-standing world record.
The Nigerian entered the Athlos meeting after another silver medal against American rival Masai Russell at the World Athletics Ultimate Championships in Budapest last week.
Amusan ran 12.34 seconds in the final on September 11, finishing behind Russell, who won in 12.22 seconds. The American had earlier broken Amusan’s four-year-old world record of 12.12 seconds by running 12.09 seconds in Zurich at the end of August.

Amusan had set the previous world record of 12.12 seconds in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, holding the mark for four years before Russell lowered it to 12.09 seconds.
Her silver in Budapest earned her $75,000, while the second-place finish in London added another $35,000 to her season earnings. ATHLOS confirmed that its 2026 London meeting offers $65,000 for first place and $35,000 for second.
The London race also marked the first international edition of ATHLOS, the all-women’s professional track and field series, which staged its debut at StoneX Stadium on September 18.
