Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, on his 62nd birthday, describing him as a trusted partner and dedicated public servant.
Sanwo-Olu conveyed the birthday message in a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, according to a post shared on the Lagos State Government’s Facebook page.
The governor praised Hamzat for his years of service to Lagos State and Nigeria, highlighting his contributions as deputy governor and his previous roles in public service.

Sanwo-Olu said: “On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, family, the Government, and the people of Lagos State, as well as the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), I celebrate my dear brother, friend, and reliable partner, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on his 62nd birthday.”
He said he had worked closely with Hamzat since May 29, 2019, describing their partnership as part of efforts to deliver governance and development to Lagos residents.
The governor also expressed confidence in Hamzat’s capacity to succeed him as governor of Lagos State.
“I am proud to have undertaken this leadership and governance journey with Dr. Obafemi Hamzat from 29th May 2019 to date, and I firmly believe that he will be a worthy successor as the 16th Governor of Lagos State,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He further described Hamzat as an administrator, technocrat and politician with experience in public service.
“Dr. Hamzat is an administrator of exceptional quality, a seasoned technocrat and politician, hardworking, supportive, trustworthy, and a dedicated partner. He is tested, trusted and adjudged to be competent. He possesses the capacity to lead Lagos State,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu also urged Lagos voters to support Hamzat, who is the APC governorship candidate, in the 2027 election.
“I urge all Lagos electorates to vote for Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the APC governorship candidate, for continuity of good governance in our dear State,” he said.
The governor wished Hamzat more years of service, wisdom and success, while praying for his continued good health.
